Celebrating International Men’s Day

Category: News

International Men’s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.

Held on November 19th, this global event addresses many different issues surrounding men's mental health.

This International Men’s Day we’re celebrating positive male role models within Remtek and raising awareness of the contribution they bring to student well-being.

The International Men's Day campaign invites you to get involved with several ideas to get started.

International Men’s Day at Remtek

At Remtek we’re celebrating extraordinary members of staff that have contributed to positive student wellbeing over the years. One such member is Training Supervisor and System Designer, Anthony Barlow.

Anthony has been with the Remtek team for over 15 years; ensuring that all Remtek AT trainers are certified in all AT software and completing sessions correctly.

In addition, he designs and maintains the current and new systems to ensure a smooth experience for the student from DSA2 through delivery to training.

We caught up with Anthony this week to discuss his job role, contribution to the student journey and what his future holds:

What changes has your job role brought to Remtek and the students that you support?

“My job role has ensured every Remtek student receives the highest quality training available. This enables them, an easy transition into Uni life and reduced anxiety and stress when studying and writing essays, through their training, via strategies and procedures that every trainer follows.

Our current procedures ensure that we don’t miss any training sessions. We successfully monitor when students have been trained, when was their latest session and if have they missed a session.

I have changed how business practices work to speed up the process and eliminate errors along the delivery process.”

How do you see your job role contributing to the future of Remtek and the students?

“My job role will enable Remtek and students to have a healthy relationship. Allowing a smooth student delivery/training process.

I’m working to make Remtek internal systems quicker and more efficient to allow every student to experience our services seamlessly, from downloading software to deliveries and training.”

We asked some of your colleagues about your contribution to Remtek and this was their response:

“Working with Ant over the past few years has been a pleasure. I find him very easy to go to if I need help with anything, even if this has nothing to do with training, he is always willing to help.

He has a very direct approach which is useful when you need an answer right away and he will think of the best solution with the student in mind.

Ant has an input in various departments across Remtek. He is very adaptable in various roles within the company.”

Melissah Matthews – Admin Supervisor

“Anthony throws himself 100% into his roles at Remtek, whether that be in training, technical assistance or covering for a different department.

He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to training, he is able to teach our customers the softwares in great depth and receives nothing but good reviews from them.

As well as being good at training, he is also able to offer technical assistance within the company and able to cover for different departments, whether this is helping technical support or warehouse. Through the years of his working at Remtek he has gained good knowledge of departments that are not his but still has no difficulty helping them to the best of his ability.

He is never too busy to answer any questions anyone may have. His technical knowledge is currently helping get the new system up and running, which will not only benefit the company but also each member of staff.”

Chloe Waterworth - Administrator

Another team member that we are celebrating this International Men’s Day is Warehouse Supervisor, Jonathan Dalli. Jonathan has been with Remtek almost 15 years and is responsible for picking, packing and dispatch. As Warehouse Supervisor he manages stock control and liaises with suppliers and distribution centers.

He has been a valuable member of the Remtek team and ensures that our warehouse runs efficiently so that students are guaranteed a timely and professional service.

We met with Jonathan to hear his thoughts on his contribution to Remtek:

What changes has your job role brought to Remtek and the students that you support?

“I have implemented a couple of ideas that have helped other departments speed up their processes; for example we now email all dispatch notes that include vital information for the student such as software activation codes. Me and my staff members have altered our warehouse creating more space, making for a safer, more efficient working environment. I have also applied for extra recycling bins to maximize the amount of recyclable waste.”

How do you see your job role contributing to the future of Remtek and the students?

“By implementing planning meetings with other departments, we can ensure we have correct stock levels in our warehouse, enabling us to continue to provide a second to none service to our students.

We are always on the lookout for new or improved software and hardware making the student’s studying time as stress free as possible. We take a general query call regarding items and make sure the student has a full understanding of said items. I have recently been offering live video chats to show operation of items such as ergonomic desks, chairs and general hardware items on a student’s order.”

Jonathan’s colleagues also chatted with us about his contribution to Remtek:

“Jon Dalli is extremely useful in the roles he takes on, he has

  • Experience
  • Dependable
  • Speed
  • Knowledge
  • Responsibility

He can quickly decide what jobs he and his colleague perform daily, ensuring that the most important tasks are completed first. He also helps other colleagues to advise students when stuck with a query.

He takes responsibility for customer equipment, which ensures when the student receives their equipment there are no problems.

He is dependable to work on his own or assist others if needed and always willing to help.”

Phil Key - Insurance / Service Administrator

“Jon Dalli has a lot of experience in all departments within Remtek, Jon has a lot of knowledge that he has gained over the years. He has a great work ethic and will always give an honest answer.

We are always looking at ways to improve processes and procedures between our departments and work alongside each other to achieve the best outcome for Remtek and our students.”

Melissah Matthews – Admin Supervisor

Well done to Jonathan, Anthony, and all the male team members for their hard work and dedication to supporting students, nationwide.
